The 2009 edition will be based on the theme « the Role of the Building Industry in Sustainable Development», a concept which seems to be both a guideline and a challenge, since the construction of a building or infrastructure has an inevitable impact on the environment, positive or negative (alterations in the landscape, people’s way of life, the use of natural resources, the production of wealth, etc.)
Based on the UN Commission on the environment’s report, the construction of a building or infrastructure is a challenge in relation to the technical and ecological, social and economic fields.
Always true to its mission since its start in 2000, EXPOBAT still figures on the agenda of international professional exhibition, gathering together participants from countries from both the North and South, and claiming more and more attention among African’s major shows in terms of scale and quality.
As a forum for Building and Public Works (BPW) professionals (exhibitors and professional visitors), EXPOBAT is a sub-regional showcase for the promotion of goods, services and businesses which allow the creation of partnership relations.
During every exhibition, the showroom has claimed an average of 3.500 square metres, with nearly 150 exhibitors and 6,000 professional visitors.
In that connection, EXPOBAT makes the most of the unique location of Senegal and Dakar as a bridgehead to WAEMU countries which include Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Bissau Guinea, Mali, Niger and the host country where some major construction works under way.
Consequently, given the results of the previous editions, EXPOBAT 2009 aims to:
- Consolidate achievements, enhancing its reputation and its impact across the sub-region;
- Further act as a venue for the development of business (property transactions, funding and supplies) and promote exchanges on new provisions and on the technologies included in the framework of the world policy on sustainable development.
In this connection and scientifically speaking, there will be panel discussions on various sub-sectors of the building industry, like the environment (health sanitation, hygiene, the quality of life, etc.), energies (new and renewable) between professionals.
EXPOBAT 2009 will be highly innovative compared to previous editions in terms of contents and also thanks to the publicity in targeted countries, supported by direct contacts with professionals from the targeted areas.
Delegation of businessmen, BPW operators are expected to attend this event.
Already, on the basis of the requests for information registered so far, many people will participate in this event.
